On July
2004, 11 U.S. teachers in various disciplines traveled to Yangon,
Myanmar for a two-week program to work with Burmese teachers and
teaching faculty to explore ways to integrate critical thinking skills
into high school courses of study. It is anticipated that over 100
Burmese teachers participated in two seminars of study related to
their current and anticipated teaching assignments.
U.S. teachers are volunteering their time and personal resources to
travel to Myanmar. However, Teachers Across Borders is seeking
additional financial support to do the following:
• Give the 100 participating Burmese teachers a $10 stipend for
successful participation ($10 is one month’s salary for a Burmese
teacher)
• Cover costs for creation, duplication and distribution of a teaching
materials related to critical thinking
