"Teachers
Teaching Teachers"
2005 Summer Program
Plans are being developed for the 2006 Summer Program. See Teacher
Volunteers for more information.
Seven
volunteer teachers from the United States traveled to Cambodia in July
2005 for a two week "Teachers Teaching Teachers" program in Phnom Penh.
Master teachers presented workshops in which they shared approaches to
educational leadership, child-centered education, and critical thinking
in various content areas.
Modeled on a similar successful program in Yangon, Myanmar during the
summer of 2004, 100 teachers, professors, and students majoring in
education participated in the workshops. Participants collaborated to
design teaching units in Khmer and English which illustrated teaching
ideas and strategies. Workshop materials and the teaching units were
published as a teaching notebook to be shared with other educators.
Contributions large and small are welcome for this program Funds
are needed for stipends to participating Cambodian teachers, lunches,
photocopying and distribution, and other costs associated with
implementation of the program.
